Amy Torgeson is an artist working in printmaking and collage, and she’s been chosen asĀ the Mill Valley Chamber’s selection as Artist of the month for March! Her work explores the collaborative relationship between both methods; printmaking provides material for collage, and the layering and multi-dimensional qualities of collage make their way back into her printmaking.Ā In addition to her artistic practice, she has spent over a decade teaching writing and art through arts organizations and after-school programs. She now leads art workshops in her Sausalito studio at ICB/ART.Ā ArtWalk is next Tuesday, March 4th from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Burr, for a special Galentineās Day concert on Friday, February 14, at the OāHanlon Center for the Arts Gallery in Mill Valley. With over two decades of collaboration, Mammina and Burr share a remarkable on-stage chemistry that has captivated audiences nationwide. This performance is one of only three scheduled in Northern California, making it a rare and not-to-be-missed event. The duo will perform a curated selection of songs by artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Abbey Lincoln, Dorothy Fields, James Taylor, and original compositions by Mammina.

One stroke leads to the next and hours pass.Ā Marks and colors swarm around and in me to find their way on to the canvas. I have no expectation except the unexpected.Ā Here outside of time, surprise follows surprise. Ultimately the marks and colors come to agreement.Ā Ā The picture is complete. From the silence I see the work. As I look into the nameless field newly painted, the work whispers a name.”

My years of observation as a naturalist and teacher of biology has helped me see and express these connections.

To Patricia Gwilliam Ziegler painting is her lifelong personal journal, a visual expression of her relationships and experiences, interpretations of memories that linger in her heart beyond words. Family, parenting, marriage, as well as the simple moments of every day are her inspirations. To Ziegler the act of painting is like vivid dreaming. She starts with a color or a vague memory and follows her brush as it reveals the image, developing into an enchanted vision with a life of its own.

Laurie Reemsnyder, a graduate with an Art Ed degree from Rhode Island School of Design who and has been teaching Photography since 1999, in Vallejo and at Marin Catholic, is the Mill Valley Chamber’s selection as Artist of the month for August. Recognizing that art is transformative and connects us all as humans, Reemsnyder designed a photo project that was implemented each summer on her service trips to Cambodia, Costa Rica, Fiji, Thailand, Bosnia and Peru.
