One of Mill Valley’s most exciting stretches in the calendar is upon us, with an amazing Concerts on the Plaza in the rearview mirror and Movies in the Park (Spider-Man: No Way Home 9/16 & Aladdin Oct. 14), Fall Arts Fest (Sept. 17-18), Mill Valley Film Festival (Oct. 6-16) and Winterfest on Dec. 4 on the horizon.
Now comes word that Sunday, Sept. 25 from 1-6pm, Larry the Hat’s free (donations accepted) Mill Valley Community Block Party once again takes over the block of Miller Ave. between Throckmorton and Sunnyside avenues, with the Depot Plaza used for kids activities.
The free concert is headlined this year by The Matt Jaffe Band and Mill Valley’s very own Tam High grads The 85’s with Monroe Grisman, Django Bayless, Adam Berkowitz and April Grisman. Plus DJ Richard Habib and special guests.
As usual, the Beer Garden will benefit KIDDO! Arts Education in Mill Valley Schools. Food and drink will be provided by Boo Koo, Gravity Tavern, MV Market Tacos, Waldscraft Bakery and more. The Fashion Show will present new Fall Styles from some of Mill Valley’s “Best of Marin” boutiques.
“Many of these shops and sponsors have supported all of our efforts for many years to make Mill Valley the incredible place we all love,” Lautzker says. “Let the participating groups know they’re appreciated!
The event is also being supported by some of our cherished visual arts spaces, including Seager/Gray Gallery‘s “Renée Bott: Inventing Nature,” a painting exhibition about nature and naturalists through Sept. 29; Poet and/the Bench‘s “Collecting Craft” featuring artists that have a new spin on traditional design and are employing innovation in a way that creates a connection to the materials and final object; and Kim Eagles-Smith Gallery‘s ‘Up from the Skies’ new landscapes paintings by John McCormick’ from October 4-Nov 23.
A variety of fun and games for the kids will take place on the Depot Plaza with Camp Funderblast, Dave Fromer Soccer, MV Recreation, Mojo Dojo and more.
