Sweetwater Music Hall, the historic Mill Valley venue with deep ties to the Grateful Dead and the greater Bay Area roots-music community, continues its tradition of presenting inspired live music with a winter lineup rich in Dead-related projects, bluegrass, and Americana—alongside an eclectic slate of rock, jazz, soul, and tribute performances.

Founded in 1972 and reborn as a nonprofit community arts space, Sweetwater Music Hall has long been a gathering place for musicians and fans connected to the Grateful Dead universe. From Jerry Garcia Band lineage to contemporary bluegrass and jam-forward explorations, the venue remains a cornerstone of Northern California’s roots-music ecosystem.

This winter’s calendar leans especially strong into those traditions, with standout appearances including Stu Allen bringing Jerry and Dawg RevisitedKristina Marinova performing the music of the Grateful Dead on piano, and Pete Sawyer & The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang with the Joe Marcinek Band. Bluegrass devotees can also gather for the popular Marin Bluegrass Sessions and a special performance by Special Consensus.

In addition to its Dead and bluegrass roots, Sweetwater’s schedule reflects the venue’s all-genre mission, featuring holiday shows, soul, jazz, tributes, open jams, and New Year’s Eve celebrations—all presented in an intimate, community-focused setting.

Sweetwater Music Hall Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is fully devoted to advancing music education, understanding and appreciation and Bay Area music history, culture and arts.
