Long renowned for its sprawling beer garden, incredible pizza and laid back, family friendly vibe (choose from 30 taps of local brews while kids hit the massive wooden pirate ship play structure), The Junction is quietly becoming one of the 94941’s most impressive music venues.
The multifaceted gathering space regularly hosts national touring bands like Melvin Seals & JGB, ALO, the Mother Hips, Brett Dennen, Vetiver and many more. On June 11th (6pm-10pm), they’ve landed a phenomenal performance featuring the funky six-piece The Motet, who have learned to work as an interlocking unit, with each member bolstering one another towards the best creative output. This symbiosis has led to a unique style and cohesive musical chemistry, as seen in the band’s immaculate live performances and seamless blend of funk, soul, jazz, and rock. With a fervent fanbase in tow, The Motet have sold out shows across the nation, performed six headlining slots at Red Rocks and sets at festivals such as Bonnaroo, BottleRock, Electric Forest, Bumbershoot, Summer Camp, and High Sierra.
But even after their 20+ years of accolades and recognition, the legendary outfit – composed of Dave Watts (drums), Joey Porter (keys), Garrett Sayers (bass), Drew Sayers (keys and saxophone), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), and new singer Sarah Clarke – are still exploring new sonic ideas and finding new ways to showcase each other’s skill sets.
Opening the show for the Motet is San Francisco powerhouse Tracorum. Tracorum has shared the stage with legendary acts such as Robert Randolph Family Band, Trombone Shorty, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstafunk, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and many more. Tracorum will warn up the stage with their piano fueled blend of southern rock, soul, honkytonk, and roots americana. In one show they might musically visit New Orleans, the Appalachian mountains, Delta blues, church, psychedelic 60’s, England’s Rock heroes, say hello to Dylan and Willie Nelson drop Parliament/Funkadelic a bone and end up in Jamaica with a final stop in Memphis via southern Georgia.
