As we head into August, it kicks off an incredible run of amazing events in town, starting with Movies in the Park, which begins with ‘Luca’ on Aug, 1st in Old Mill Park. 

This free movie begins at sunset at Old Mill Park. Grab a blanket or your favorite lawn chair and some snacks for some fun-filled movie magic under the stars.

One month later, Movies in the Park celebrates ‘Inside Out 2,’ in which thirteen-year-old Riley tackles high school with her personified emotions guiding her decisions. Soon her newfound feelings cause turmoil and force her to redefine her sense of self.

And then on Oct. 3rd at Old Mill Park, ‘Little Mermaid’ is set for October 3rd at Old Mill Park. All movies begin at sunset. The Little Mermaid is a 2023 American musical romantic fantasy film. It is a live-action adaptation of Disney‘s 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid. The film stars Halle Bailey as the title character, with Jonah Hauer-KingDaveed DiggsAwkwafinaJacob TremblayNoma DumezweniArt MalikJavier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy in supporting roles. The plot follows the mermaid princess Ariel, who is fascinated with the human world; after saving Prince Eric from a shipwreck, she makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to walk on land.

Mill Valley Film Festival and the Fall Arts Fest to follow, Mill Valley Recreation still has a pair of exciting films for fans of all ages tee’d up for the annual Movies in the Park series!

The free series of film screenings under the stars on a giant inflatable screen in local parks – all part of a collaboration among Mill Valley Recreation, the Mill Valley Chamber and the California Film Institute – returns for its ninth season with a quintet of blockbuster films across a pair of incredible venues. The Movies in the Park series kicked off in 2014 and has gotten bigger and better every year since. In 2018, the MV Chamber organized a successful fundraising campaign to raise enough money to purchase all of the equipment required to produce the series, propelled by a $5,000 grant from the Outdoor Art Club.
