Mill Valley Middle School Unveils Environmental Impact Report
“It has taken time and a great deal of careful work to get here, but we are finally nearing key decisions for Mill Valley Middle School,” Sharon Nakatani, president of the district board, said in an email Friday. “The board expects to be in a position this December to certify the Final EIR and select both the interim and permanent campus plans — steps that move us toward delivering the modern middle school this community has asked for and supported from the beginning.”

Cliff, a frequent attendee of musical events at the Sweetwater, the Depot and the Throckmorton suggested “let’s have concert!” and with any volunteer organization, you suggest it, you do it.

This year’s theme was “Strength in Numbers,” representing our tight-woven community spirit, how, as a town, we come together and get things done in a way that makes Mill Valley the best place to live in America! We heard some outstanding essays from local students, as well as from Mill Valley Police Chief Rick Navarro, Board pf Supervisors Stephanie Moulton-Peters, and many more! There was also plenty of fun at the Pancake Breakfast, the KIDDO! Carnival and after Parade party.

The Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade is right around the corner! The Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade (check out the website) Mill Valley’s biggest annual event is Monday, May 26, 2025. The parade starts with the very special Veterans Ceremony, which includes the student K-8 essay contest “What does Memorial Day mean to me,” beginning at 9:45 am at Lytton Square, followed by the parade at 10:30 am. The I Love a Parade committee, Larry ‘The Hat’ Lautzker, Paul Moe, and Clifford Waldeck invite you to get together with your neighbors and friends or support local organizations and create wondrous floats. Enter your Classic Car, bring your pet kangaroo, and get creative! We’re returning the glory days of Mill Valley Parades, Color Guard, Great floats, Dogs marching, and Classic Cars, with trophies for best in all (see entry form) categories.

Thompson Dorfman plans to split the three-parcel complex into 12 lots to assist in the development of streets and other infrastructure. Mallard Road would become a 20-foot-wide, two-lane private access drive without sidewalks. The private drive would have textured pavement, traffic calming devices and street signs to reduce vehicle speed, according to Markwick. Under the state’s housing mandate, Belvedere must allow 160 new residences over the eight-year planning cycle ending in 2031.

According to the Marin IJ, environmental issues have put plans for a new $130 million Mill Valley Middle School on hold, according to consultants for the school district. The delay is for more studies at the campus at 425 Sycamore Ave., which used to be a burn dump. The district’s plan is to demolish the school and rebuild it at the same site. Sandrine Hitchcock, a program manager for the construction consulting firm AECOM, discussed the project during a public forum on Thursday, saying the last step of the California Environmental Quality Act process is expected in July.

Mill Valley Middle School (MVMS) is thrilled to announce an exciting new tutoring initiative aimed at providing enhanced academic support for its students. Spearheaded by former MVMS student Brady Dresner in collaboration with 6th grade Counselor Erin Sheedy, this program is designed to foster collaboration and promote academic growth within our community. Starting Monday, October 14, 2024, students from Tam High will be available in the MVMS library every Monday and Thursday from 3:05pm to 4pm. They will offer free tutoring sessions across all subjects, ensuring that every student has the resources they need to succeed.
