Two Neat, brilliant Bob Bijou’s witty, charming, always LOL card, gifts, toys and much more shop is shutting down the business at the end of of August. He opened Two Neat in October 1986.
Like many businesses who’ve lasted through many eras, it is largely a sad day. But Bob and his witty co-horts are focused on landing this plane with all the joy and fart jokes Two Neat calls for.
From bacon-scented air freshener to inarguably the best collection of greeting cards in Marin, Bijou’s Two Neat shop at 111 Throckmorton Ave. has been an institution in Mill Valley for 39 years – with a little something for everyone.
Take one step into Two Neat and be immersed into the creative spirit, music, geography and state of mind of Mill Valley and Marin County. Bijou is the store’s founder and owner since its inception. He’s used this gem of a shop to celebrate artists, musicians and just plain fun.
Two Neat has regularly extended its product lines, launching a section a few years back to accommodate those of the four-legged variety with a selection of dog treats, water dishes, leashes and toys – specifically the once-extremely popular Donald Trump chew toy.
Like too many of our treasured local businesses, Two Neat was forced to remain closed during much of the spring and early summer during Covid, and sales since it reopened went down but have come back “during these weird and wacky times.”
Bijou was an always-creative collaborator. He also hosted “Pop-In Happy Hours” featuring the likes of Equator Coffees & Teas‘ co-founder Helen Russell. And don’r get us started on Two Neat’s Marin Calendars, the Perfect Holiday Gift for Lovers of Laughter, Gorgeous Photography and Marin County
Bijou won a Milley Award in 2016 for his contribution to the creative arts. At the time, Bijou and his team hoped that a GoFundMe campaign would soften the blow a bit. Two Neat’s dog section was a massive hit, catering to neighborhood dog owners with an array of dog treats, water dishes, leashes and toys – specifically the extremely popular Donald Trump chew toy.

NOW IS THE TIME TO shop at Two Neat before the business closes at the end of August.
If all of this joy and laughter didn’t tickle your funny bone, how about these witticisms?

Very sad about this! The owners are such a gem in the community, and were always friendly and upbeat whenever I came into the store. And you’re right, stating in the article that Two Neat captured “the creative spirit, music, geography and state of mind of Mill Valley and Marin County”…the authentic vibe which is so quickly disappearing here. This longtime fan (since early 90s) will especially miss their window displays, politically incorrect toilet paper, and vintage candies. Thank you, Two Neat!
Very sad to see you are closing!
Yes, you are the old Mill valley. The funky, the funny, the cool the real, the unpretentious, the adorable and the wonderful Mill valley.
I am so so sad that you are closing. You definitely have been the heart of this town. And you made it special. I’m coming in to buy as much as I possibly can before you close. Thank you for all you did. And thanks for all the laughs! You will be terribly missed. 🥲
We miss you already! I was there yesterday! Any idea how I can purchase a Mill Valley hat (baseball cap), like the ones you used to sell?
My dog has been in love with Two Neat’s Laura at al for her entire life. The gals used to tell me I bought more cards than anybody, which is probably true. I have brought all my visitors there and they all iterate no place has such a great selection, from the tame to the yowza! Two Neat will never die in my heart, like MV Market, it represents the essence of Mill Valley.
