Jam fans will zero in onĀ Pink Talking Fish, the beloved fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish, performing November 1 and 2. For those who live in the Allman Brothersā zone,Ā Freestone PeachesĀ hit the stage October 4, while Zeppelin devotees will be thunderstruck byĀ Zepparella, bringing two nights of classic rock fire October 17ā18.

Sweetwater Music Hall, the intimate nonprofit live music venue established in 1972, is hostingĀ “Tunes from Our Backyardā a performance at Mill Valleyās Sweetwater Music Hall on Sunday, October 19, celebrates the WPA California Folk Music Project, a collection of live field recordings of traditional ethnic folk songs recorded around the Bay Area during the Great Depression.Ā
Between 1938 and 1940, San Francisco musicologist Sidney Robertson, working out of offices at UC Berkeley with funding from the New Dealās Works Progress Administration (WPA), documented the music of ethnic communities around Northern California. With a small team hired from the stateās relief rolls, Robertson collected 35 hours of folk songs in 12 languages, along with photographs and drawings of musical instruments immigrants brought with them when they left their home countries for California. Robertson was the first collector to record folk songs of ethnic immigrants and call them āAmerican.ā

Mill Valley Mayor Stephen Burke sought to squash the idea that the City obstructed seismic retrofits that were necessary, and made it clear in a statement: āThe City regrets the potential closure of the Whole Foods, which is an important community resource. The decision to close, if true, is based on business considerations that the City is not privy to. Further, other than issuing a permit for roof repairs, the City has imposed no further requirements or restrictions upon the property. In fact, this year City Council, the Planning Commission, and City Staff have dedicated themselves to updating and modifying parking, commercial codes, and other regulations with the goal of making the opening and operation of vibrant businesses easier.ā

The event will include a community celebration open to all on Depot Plaza from 12-4 on Saturday the 25th, featuring food, beverage, live music from Sean Carscadden, and an opportunity to learn more about adaptive sports, the KBFās mission, and TMACās work.
