Passionate about photographing the land as it looks through the airplane window, a new series of paintings abstracted from Jamie Madison’s photos will be on display at the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce for the month of November.

Madison studied printmaking and painting with Wayne Thiebaud at UC-Davis and returned to painting full time over the past six years.

Rooted in a sense of place among farmlands and coastal regions of Northern California, her paintings navigate a partly seen, partly imagined terrain.

Madison shows with John Natsoulas Center for the Arts in Davis, and works in her home studio and in the ICB Building in Sausalito.

Madison will be showcasing her work on the walls of the Mill Valley Chamber’s space at 85 Throckmorton Ave., including a reception on Tuesday, Nov. 7, as part of the Mill Valley Arts Commission’s First Tuesday Artwalk (5:30-7:30pm).

Aside from the First Tuesday Artwalk, the Chamber’s office is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12-4pm.
