Pick up orders Wednesday April 23rd in the Garden 1:30-3:30 (80 Lomita Dr/Edna Maguire Elementary). Shop in Person during the following dates and time: Wednesday, April 23 – Celebrate Earth Day during Open Garden (1:30-3:30)! Plus, online orders will be ready for pick-up, and our in-person plant sale kicks off. Sunday, April 27 – Join us for a Plant Sale & Garden Work Party (10 AM-2 PM). Come find beautiful plants and lend a hand in the garden—it’s a great way to connect with the community and the earth! The Mill Valley Children’s Garden is a 22,000 sq. ft. organic garden, orchard and outdoor classroom, located at the Edna Maguire Elementary School.

MV Residents’ Education Housing Partner’s 250-Unit, Affordable Apartment Project Near San Quentin For Teachers & County Employees, Have Received Unanimous Support to Take an Initial Step Toward Helping to Guarantee Rental Income for the Project

Marin County supervisors voted unanimously to take an initial step toward helping to guarantee rental income for a housing project designed to serve educators and county employees. The project, the Village at Oak Hill, envisions construction of 135 apartments on vacant land donated by the state in eastern Larkspur near San Quentin. The plan is to reserve 101 of the apartments for the employees of local schools and 34 for county employees.The project is being overseen by the Marin County Public Financing Authority, a joint partnership between Marin County and the Marin County Office of Education. It has a $16.4 million funding gap. Rising interest rates since the project launched are to blame, said Matthew Hymel, the authority’s director and a former county executive.

After a Hugely Successful Ballot Measure L in 2024 to Address Massive Infrastructure Needs of $150 Million to $180 Million in the Next 10-15 Years, City Officials Now Look to Implement the 1% Sales Tax Hike, Effective April 1st

Effective April 1, 2025, the sales tax rate for the City of Mill Valley will increase from 8.25% to 9.25% All taxpayers will receive a special notice regarding new sales and use tax rates effective April 1, 2025, 30 days before the new rates start either via e-notice or a letter format that has a “Special Notice” on the top. The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration will post the notice on their Special Notices and Notification Letters website. https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/news/special-notices-and-notification-letters.htm. Approved by Mill Valley voters with the passage of Measure L in November 2024, this local sales tax increase of 1% is estimated to bring our community an additional $4.2 million in revenue per year. The City will begin receiving funds in June 2025 to directly support community identified priorities such as wildfire prevention, roads, bridges, emergency routes, flood mitigation, hillside stabilization, and repairing City facilities like the Public Safety Building, Community Center, Library, as well as City playgrounds and fields.
