Longtime Local Artist Amanda Reeves’ Gorgeous Paintings – ‘Fluid Geometries,’ Will Be On Display at the First Tuesday ArtWalk on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 5:30-7:30 pm!

Reeves’ early fascination with natural systems, their networks, and the creatures who inhabit them, initially drew her to study marine biology, where she could revel in the fantastical creatures and unknown realms. The rules did not seem to apply to the morphology of life under water. The visuals of strange and brightly colored creatures swaying and moving in the swells and currents embedded itself and is reflected in these works. These biological systems, so diverse and unique to their surroundings, had such exquisite specificity and yet seemed so fantastical; untethered and floating within the space they inhabit, seemingly weightless – interconnected, related, and yet abstract and nonsensical.Ā

The 68th Mill Valley Fall Arts Fest Is Coming Soon: Help Us ‘Paint the Town’!

Here’s where you come in: We’re looking for a sponsor — an individual, a local business, a community organization — to fund this project. In return, the sponsor would own the completed piece, or they might donate it to Mill Valley as a permanent public artwork for all to enjoy. It’s a rare opportunity to sponsor something beautiful, participatory, and enduring — a project that will be remembered not just for the finished art, but for the countless joyful moments that created it.

SF Chronicle: San Francisco Went Too Far in the Wrong Direction – It’s Leading the Way Again, and It Could Benefit Marin and the Larger Bay Area

Something has been in the air inĀ San FranciscoĀ for more than a year now — and for once, it’s not fog or hype aboutĀ what’s next in tech. Instead, it’s clarity. After years ofĀ national headlinesĀ portraying the city as a symbol of dysfunction, San Francisco is quietlyĀ undergoingĀ aĀ course correctionĀ rooted not in ideology but in common sense. Curtain Theatre Returns With a Dynamic Series of Free Performances of William Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It,’ Directed by Doyle Ott – Celebrating 25 years in Old Mill Park!

As You Like It is a play about exile, the challenges and rewards of living outside the centers of power and knowledge–and the self-knowledge and healing that emanate from Bohemia, symbolized here by the Forest of Arden in Shakespeare’s home county. This production will lean into the dangers of exile, including the need to escape and to stay hidden, the tension between the need to trust strangers and not knowing whom to trust. As the broken exiles learn to heal, shepherds and farmers reclaim the dignity of their craft and a tyrant Duke is transformed, emerging like a prayer for the wisdom the people deserve in a ruler. In design, staging and music, we will pay homage to the Bohemian ideals that Northern California—and particularly, Mill Valley—have represented for 125 years.Free! No tickets or reservations.
