Chamber Music Marin Continues its 2025 Chamber Music Concert Series at Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church With Chamber Music Concerts – Next Up is the Esme Quartet!
The Esmé Quartet takes its name from the old French word for “beloved.” Formed in 2016 in Cologne, Germany, the Quartet has performed worldwide and won the prestigious Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition in London. Now resident at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Sweetwater Music Hall Fall Lineup: From Pink Talking Fish to Zepparella, Reggae, Bluegrass, and Beyond!
Sweetwater Music Hall, the storied Mill Valley nonprofit venue that has been a home to the counterculture and beyond since 1972, keeps the fall calendar packed with music for Deadheads, hippies, and fans of every genre. Jam fans will zero in on Pink Talking Fish, the beloved fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish, performing November 1 and 2. For those who live in the Allman Brothers’ zone, Freestone Peaches hit the stage October 4, while Zeppelin devotees will be thunderstruck by Zepparella, bringing two nights of classic rock fire October 17–18.

Beth Davila Waldman is a cross-disciplinary artist using photography, painting, assemblage and installation. Her work explores the impact of socio-political trends on cultural landscapes, often through imagery laden with indicators of economic and social status, presented in a manner that emulates the sheer stress of imposed change. Waldman’s constructed vistas re-conceive the notion of sanctuary amidst the realities of colonization, and invite meditations on civil access. Waldman imbues her work with a unique materiality by printing or transferring photographs on a plethora of materials—from tarp to sails, canvas to paper.

Sweetwater Music Hall, the intimate nonprofit live music venue established in 1972, is hosting “Tunes from Our Backyard” a performance at Mill Valley’s Sweetwater Music Hall on Sunday, October 19, celebrates the WPA California Folk Music Project, a collection of live field recordings of traditional ethnic folk songs recorded around the Bay Area during the Great Depression.
Between 1938 and 1940, San Francisco musicologist Sidney Robertson, working out of offices at UC Berkeley with funding from the New Deal’s Works Progress Administration (WPA), documented the music of ethnic communities around Northern California. With a small team hired from the state’s relief rolls, Robertson collected 35 hours of folk songs in 12 languages, along with photographs and drawings of musical instruments immigrants brought with them when they left their home countries for California. Robertson was the first collector to record folk songs of ethnic immigrants and call them “American.”

The celebrated composer and lyricist Rita Abrams will emcee this year’s Milley Awards for Creative Achievement, October 26th at the Mill Valley Community Center. A gala dinner and program will begin with appetizers by Paseo Bistro chef Angélica Duarte and complimentary wine from Bay Area vintners, followed by a lavish buffet dinner by Ghiringhelli Catering. The award presentations will culminate with a performance by celebrated musician Jerry Harrison, this year’s Milley honoree for musical arts. Tickets ($100) go on sale September 7 at milleyawards.org.

The ever-engaging band first appeared at Mount Tam Jam in 2013, the show that Sound Summit producer Michael Nash orchestrated and inspired him to launch Sound Summit in 2015. Joining the genre-defying crowd favorite are female-driven Canadian alt-pop powerhouse Alvvays in their only California performance this year; Stand! – a very special Sound Summit celebration of musical icon Sly & The Family Stone featuring Taj Mahal, Narada Michael Walden, Martin Luther McCoy, Vicki Randle, Rustee Allen, members of Graham Central Station, and more; beloved indie rockers Real Estate; and self-described purveyors of “Cosmic Mountain Music,” Wolf Jett.
