The recent fires in Maui, now the deadliest conflagration in modern U.S. history, left us all shocked and saddened, and the mountainous recovery the people face in the coming months and beyond is unfathomable, particularly for a tragedy that has seen its death toll rise to 115 people with approximately 850 people still unaccounted for, Maui officials confirmed..
Given the popularity of Maui among Mill Valley and Bay Area vacationers, and just the sheer horror of this tragedy, the Mill Valley Chamber teamed up with Vintage Ruse, Jules Mercer’s multi-faceted, 6,000-square-foot space at 256 Shoreline Hwy., at the intersection with Almonte Blvd. in the heart of Tam Junction.
The benefit raised money via food and drinks sales and direct donations, with 100% of proceeds going straight to the Maui Food Bank.
The event kicked off at 6:30pm with Musical Feast, Vintage Ruse’s weekly house band featuring country folk rock covers, originals and classic cover songs. They played a beautiful set across two hours, delighting the crowd.
Musical Feast was followed by the Crackerjack DJ’s, longtime Bay Area turntable aficionados who spin a wide blend of sounds, from soul, funk & hip hop to Afrobeat, Brazilian and block-rockin’ beats from around the globe.
Again, all proceeds will go directly to the Maui Food Bank.
