Mill Valley Chamber Hosts Painter Meili Zhao’s ‘The Power of Art,” a Showcase of Her Beautiful Landscape Paintings From July 16-Aug. 31, Artwalk is Aug. 1, 5:30-7:30pm
Meili Zhao, a Marin-based oil and watercolor painter who is in love with the outdoors and natural and primarily paints landscapes and seascapes, is the Mill Valley Chamber’s spotlight artist from July 16th through August 31st.
Zhao, who will be showcasing her work on the walls of the Mill Valley Chamber’s space at 85 Throckmorton Ave., including a reception on Tuesday, August 1, as part of the Mill Valley Arts Commission’s First Tuesday Artwalk (5:30-7:30pm). Aside from the First Tuesday Artwalk, the Chamber’s office is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12-4pm.
Zhao is a member of both SF Open Studios and Marin Open Studios, as well as a City of San Rafael Public Art Review Board Member.
Zhao’s talent for art started when she was very young, when she had a private professor teaching her to do Chinese brush watercolors paintings. Many of her painting methods are inspired by Traditional Chinese Painting Methods, now focusing on local landscape and wildlife paintings.
Zhao is well-traveled and has an extensive career as Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor and is a longtime acupuncturist. Zhao with a Masters Degree. She was internationally recognized for her career in Turkey and China, where she had an exclusive clientele of renowned professionals.
Zhao resides in Marin with her husband as well as two children, who are currently college students. Zhao draws much of her inspiration from the beautiful world around her in Marin, frequently demonstrated in her pieces.
