The Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival, one of our community’s landmark events, needs your help!
This year’s Sunday rain-out has left the Festival in a challenging financial situation.
The festival slowly built up a “rainy day” fund over many years. The first hit to these reserves came during 2020 from COVID-19 crisis, when organizers canceled the event in June for the first time in its history. We innovated through the pandemic, creating a display of ceramic wind chimes and outdoor art while also moving it into downtown storefront windows.
This year’s deluge of rain on Sunday brought losses of revenue have left the organization in a precarious position.
For 65 years, our festival has brought joy and inspiration to those who have attended and participated, all while doling out scholarships to four young artists as part of the 2021 Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival Emerging Artist Scholarship Fund, which was established in 2010 through its Friends of the Festival non-profit for Tamalpais High School students who excel in the arts.
We hope to make it through this and continue to offer this very special event for many years to come, showcasing more than 130 highly competitive fine artists from around the country representing 15 media categories including sculpture, painting, ceramics, photography, textiles, woodwork and jewelry.
