Fire Safe Marin, the nonprofit organization launched in in 1991 in the aftermath of the Oakland Hills fire to focus on reducing fire hazards, promoting fire safety awareness, and helping Marin County residents adapt and prepare for wildfires, is taking its community outreach to the next level.
To do so, the organization is hosting a free Ember Stomp!, a Wildfire Prevention Festival that seeks to infuse serious information and education with plenty of fun, including a quartet of Northern California bands.
Set for May 28 at the Marin Center Fairgrounds Island, it’s the first-ever wildfire prevention festival in Marin County. The free event seeks to be a celebration of Marin County’s groundbreaking community effort to reduce the risk of a catastrophic wildfire.

- A “Demo Garden,” organized by UC Marin Master Gardeners, will teach people about the principles and elements of a fire-smart landscape.
- Supporting organizations and community partners with contributing messages will surround these areas.
