Looking to watch dozens of pets and their human sidekicks strut their stuff onstage in their Halloween costumes – or even better, be one of them? Woodland Pet Foods & Treats has just the event for you on Saturday, October 29. The longtime local shop’s perennial DOGtoberfest Pet Parade & Costume Contest in Strawberry Village kicks off at 3pm with an array of activities, including trick-or-treating for kids, a pet sketch artist and pet photographer, a pet psychic, pet CPR demos and loads of pet prize bags.

Prizes will go to Best in Show, Coolest, Scariest, Cutest Couple and a number of other categories. Costume contest participants are encouraged to register in advance at Woodlands Pet Food & Treats. Registration is $10 now through Friday 10/28, or $15 on the day, with 100 percent of the registration fee going to Hopalong & Second Chance Rescue.

If that day/time doesn’t work for you, Woodlands is hosting the event at its other three locations as well: Greenbrae on Oct. 29 at 1pm, San Rafael on Oct. 29 at 2pm and Novato on Oct. 31 at 4pm.
