“I see us as not being just a place that sells wine, but a space that builds community around our wine and around those stories,” Chris Wanner says.
Those stories continue this month with Unti Vineyards in Healdsburg, with co-owner Mick Unti and sales manager Alex Hill appearing at West Coast Wine • Cheese to explain why they are “irrationally committed to making European-style wines from Mediterranean grape varieties in Dry Creek Valley,” Unti says.
Available for the entire night, the Wanners sell a flight of 3-4 wines from that winery for a discounted rate, plus have those wines available for retail sales at the same price you would pay at the winery. “We also have a raffle prize or two supplied by the winery,” Wanner says. “And sometimes the winery person will bring a super secret ‘pocket pour’ or an additional wine to try…if you’re nice!”
On April 2, the shop hosts Mike Officer, owner and winemaker at Carlisle Winery in Sonoma County from 6-8pm.
West Coast Wine • Cheese’s 700-square-foot space is the former home of the Weathered Nest vintage home accessories space adjacent to Kitchen Sunnyside restaurant. It’s set to bring even more liveliness to a street that also boasts Prabh Indian Kitchen, Salvage, The Makery and Alexander’s Artisan Rugs.
The 411: West Coast Wine • Cheese shop hosts a Winery Tasting Series with Unti Vineyards on March 12, 7-9pm at 31 Sunnyside Ave. MORE INFO ON BOTH EVENTS.
