An unusual exhibit, by appointment only, is at The Redwoods Senior Living Community featuring the vibrant and expressive works of artist Sarelyn Wager. The private exhibition opens mid-April 2025, showcasing Sarelyn’s remarkable works of her fellow residents at The Redwoods. This is a dramatic and poetic expression of their lives and experiences. It is a poignant window into the world of the elderly. Each piece reflects her love for humanity, it will resonate with all who have the opportunity to experience it.

Sarelyn has been painting for over 80 years, capturing the essence of humanity through her masterful use of color and texture. Her passion and creativity are expressed through artistic talent.

“I live and dream in color,” says Sarelyn. “My paintings speak for themselves. I’m a feisty, opinionated nonagenarian with a quirky world view, and my art is my most potent natural expression.”

Sarelyn’s journey as an artist has been shaped by the challenges faced by women in the art world throughout her lifetime. Despite these barriers, she chose to follow her heart and dedicate herself to her craft, painting tirelessly for decades. Her work stands strong alongside accomplished artists, showcasing a remarkable abstract composition within figurative paintings.

Sarelyn’s artistic expression is influenced by artists such as Pierre Bonnard, Picasso, and Rico LeBrun. Sarelyn’s style is characterized by vibrant, expressionistic paintings that capture the attitude and inner stirrings of her subjects.

“Every painting is a world of its own,” Sarelyn explains. “Art comes from within me, not conforming to any objective criteria. Using oil paint allows me to continue to evolve a painting over time.”

Sarelyn’s exhibition is a testament to the power of artistic perseverance and the timeless nature of human expression.
