EV Week, a two-year-old event created by San Francisco-based organization Charge Across Town, is set for Oct. 9 and 10 (12–5pm) during the 37th Mill Valley Film Festival, in the Lee Lum parking lot on Sunnyside Avenue adjacent to the Depot Plaza parking lot.
While Teslas and a bevy of electric vehicles are seemingly everywhere on the roads of Mill Valley and much of Marin these days, EV’s will be even more ubiquitous than usual in the 94941 this week.

That’s because EV Week 2014, a two-year-old event created by San Francisco-based organization Charge Across Town, is coming to Mill Valley for the first time, offering test drives on a number of electric vehicles (pre-register up here) on Oct. 9–10 from 12–5pm in the Lee Lum parking lot on Sunnyside Avenue adjacent to the Depot Plaza parking lot.

The two-day event is in conjunction with the 37th Mill Valley Film Festival.

“We though Mill Valley would be the perfect place for us to have our first Marin event,” says Meg Ruxton, the director of strategic partnerships for Charge Across Town, a campaign with the City of San Francisco’s Department of the Environment to encourage consumers to buy electric cars and encourage building owners to install chargers. “It was serendipitous. The Mill Valley Film Festival wanted to expand its green initiative, and we provide a way for people to take action and learn more about alternatives to gas powered vehicles.”

Beau Blanchard the corporate development manager for the California Film Institute, says that CFI has been working hard to reduce the carbon footprint of the Mill Valley Film Festival.

“Through our Green Initiative and Active Cinema Film Program, we engage the power of film to educate the public, volunteers and the community about key sustainability issues,” Blanchard says. “Because EV Week is in perfect alignment with our environmental focus, and because of Mill Valley residents’ interest in environmental innovation, this partnership made perfect sense for us.”

A number of electric vehicles will be on display, and attendees can test drive the BMW i3, the latest Nissan LEAF, Honda Accord, smart electric drive and more. Click here to pre-register for a test drive.
