Leslie Allen’s paintings are a testament to a life immersed in culture.Ā The paintings contain deft references to art history, literature and an abiding love of music. A cello player, Allen’s most lyrical paintings surely take their cue from music.Ā She paints with an ear for rhythm, tone and a love of subtle crescendos of movement and form. She shares Kandinsky’s belief in hearing as well as seeing as a way to make art.Ā ā€œForm itself,ā€ said Kandinsky, ā€œeven if completely abstract … has its own inner sound.ā€Ā

On the Heels of Bajor’s Departure, MV Fall Arts Festival Seeks a New Producer Of Event

With Bajor’s departure, MVFAF has issued a request for qualifications seeking an event producer for its annual arts festival hosted in Mill Valley’s historic Old Mill Park.Ā The event producer will partner with a collaborative non-profit, and work together with the festival’s long-standing and experienced volunteer committee, to produce an annual juried festival that brings together artists, musicians, and the greater community in celebration of fine arts.Ā
