The Southern Marin Broncos junior varsity football team, which consists of 12- and 13-year-old boys including players from Mill Valley, found their championship stride this season and won the Peninsula Pop Warner Div 3 JV Championship after three weeks of playoffs. They followed that up by winning the Pop Warner Pacific Northwest Region (consisting of Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Idaho, Alaska and Northern Nevada) Championship in San Jose on November 11, finishing it off with a 20-0 win over the previously undefeated Douglas Tigers from Nevada.
Now the Broncos will travel to compete on a national stage in the 2017 Pop Warner National Championships Super Bowl. against seven other teams from the other regions across the United States. They will play between December 3 and 8 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World.
The team has organized a raffle to raise funds to help cover expenses for players and coaches to travel and compete for the National Championship.
