Mill Valley was abuzz Thursday night with the arrival in town of two of the biggest, most respected actresses in Hollywood – Emma Stone and Amy Adams – along with an emerging filmmaker Damien Chazelle, whose film La La Land joined Denis Villanueve‘s Arrival as the two Opening Night films for the 39th Mill Valley Film Festival.
Adams and Stone appeared at a VIP event at the Outdoor Art Club before screenings of their respective new films, both of which are already drawing Academy Award speculation.
