The Mill Valley Chamber Music Society‘s acclaimed Marin Chamber Performances concert series continues this month with a performance by Quatuor Danel, a Brussels-based French string quartet that has been at forefront of the international chamber music scene since its inception in 1991.

The performance, set for Sunday, April 23 at 5pm at the Mount Tamalpais United Methodist Church, features Marc Danel and Gilles Millet on violin, Vlad Bogdanas on viola and Yovan Markovitch on cello. The quartet is well known for “their bold, concentrated interpretations of the string quartet cycles of Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Shostakovich, and Weinberg,” according to MV Chamber Music Society producers. “The other part of their musical force lies in the collaboration with major contemporary composers such as Rihm, Lachenmann, Gubaidulina, Dusapin Jörg Widmann and Bruno Mantovani.”
The Quatuor Danel concert program will include Debussy, Quartet in G; Mieczyslaw Weinberg, Quartet No. 5; and Beethoven, Quartet in B-flat, op. 130, with the Finale.
The non-profit, all-volunteer Mill Valley Chamber Music Society was founded in 1973 to present exceptional classical musicians in Mill Valley at affordable ticket prices. For its 2016-17 season, the organization has also unveiled a new wrinkle: offering free admission for young adults 18-years old and under (audiences members 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult).
