Proof Lab, the surf and skate shop that has grown into the multi-faceted community epicenter of Tam Junction and celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2014, is hosting a party Saturday for the release of new shoe from Vans designed by Mill Valley native and artistic wunderkind Zio Ziegler.

The family-friendly event is set for Saturday March 7 from 1–5pm at Proof Lab. Vans donated 100 pairs of shoes for attendees to do art on. Ziegler, the son of Banana Republic founders Mel and Patricia Ziegler whose art is on display throughout the 94941, will be on hand to participate in the art project, sign items, and answer questions.

Some of Ziegler’s first public art projects were the Vans shoes he would paint by hand and bring in to Proof Lab, according to Proof Lab co-founder Will Hutchinson. “It’s been an incredible ride to see him take his work full circle with these special edition Vans that are being released worldwide,” he says.

The event will feature a two-set performance by San Francisco-based band The Strangeland, as well as  food and drinks. The Proof Lab team riders will be skating throughout the afternoon.

All Vans merchandise, excluding Zio’s new shoe collection, will be 20 percent off that day, and for the rest of the month of March, all Vans merchandise will be 10 percent off.
