For the third consecutive month, unemployment rates decreased across the six-county North Bay region, according to state figures released Friday.
California’s month-over-month rate held steady, at 5.3%. The state’s year-over-year jobless rate increased by 0.1%, compared to 0.3% nationally, according to the Employment Development Department.
April’s unemployment rates within the North Bay were lowest in Marin County, at 3.7%. Napa County followed at 3.8%, while Sonoma County’s rate was 4%. Solano County’s jobless rate last month was 4.8%. Mendocino County’s rate was 5.5%, and Lake County’s rate was 6.8%, according to the department.
Statewide, the private education and health services sector showed job gains for the 39th consecutive month, while the biggest decline in jobs was in the professional and business services sector, according to the state agency.
Marin County
The unemployment rate in Marin County was 3.7% in April, down from a revised 3.8% in March. The rate in April 2024 was 3.5%.
