As regular users likely know, the quality of the Mill Valley Library‘s programming for children and teens doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a creative, nimble staff, and an incredibly heavy lift from the Mill Valley Library Foundation, among others, to support that creativity.

To date, the foundation has raised more than $200,000 to support the library’s free public programs for children and teens. In 2017 alone, the library offered more than 700 of these programs, drawing in more than 26,500 children and teens.

To maintain and grow that programming, the foundation is back at it again on Sunday, Oct. 7, hosting its hallmark Storybook Ball event, this time built around the theme of the stories of Curious George, the classic children’s adventure series by Margret Rey and H.A. Rey. The event is at the Mill Valley Community Center from 3-6pm.

Event organizers say children up to 10 and their parents can spend a fun-filled afternoon at the Community Center featuring S.T.E.A.M.-inspired activities, crafts, food, and live entertainment. An online auction of experiences includes items like “Learn to be the MV Mayor” and “Take a Seaplane Adventure.”
