Equator Coffees & Teas at Proof Lab in Tam Junction is serving up a chance to have that dog be the subject of a watercolor portrait from local artist Amanda Pirot. Set for this Friday, May 12 from 8am-12pm, the event will feature Pirot creating watercolor portraits that “reflect the unique qualities of a dog’s personality,” using your photos of the dog.

Watercolor dog portraits are a relatively new creative avenue for Pirot, whose day job is in marketing. Though she studied art in high school and college and she’s exhibited work in St. Louis, Philadelphia, Sausalito and at the Depot Bookstore & Cafe here in Mill Valley, Pirot only turned to water color dog paintings after deciding to move on from her political portraits after the 2016 election.

“I’m thrilled to share my portraits with Mill Valley, a community of the most ardent dog lovers around,” Pirot says.

The 411: Those interested in having their dog portrait commissioned should bring a good close up photo (or two) of their dog (on iPhone/Android). $150. Cash or check. 244 Shoreline Hwy.
