Tam Community Land Trust, Bianca Newman from EAH Housing, which is spearheading the City of Mill Valley’s 40-unit affordable development at 1 Hamilton, along with Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative‘s Jennifer Silva, with longtime Marin IJ columnist and former Mill Valley Mayor Dick Spotswood. The discussion will be followed by a reception from 4:30-5pm,

Affordable housing in Marin County – it’s a complex issue. Marin’s charm has drawn residents for years. Owning or renting here was once feasible, but in 2024, that’s no longer a reality for many.

Today, many essential workers like first responders, teachers, nurses, and service employees commute daily.  And for those with limited incomes, there are few options. Even many adults who grew up in Marin cannot afford to live here.

To learn more about the issues and opportunities, please join us on Sunday, May 19, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., when Westminster Events, in partnership with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, presents a free panel discussion.

Local leaders will share insights about some of the nearly 40 affordable housing projects across Marin County, including in Belvedere, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Mill Valley, and Sausalito. They’ll also discuss the BAHFA affordable housing bond measure, potentially on the November 2024 ballot. Innovative solutions like community land trusts, ADUs, and more will be explored.

Free parking is available. For more information, visit www.westminsterevents.org.

Bring a friend or two and stay afterward for a free reception to ask questions, continue discussions and connect with Marin’s affordable housing champions.
