Dr. J. Xavier Prochaska, a professor of Galactic and Stellar Studies at UC Santa Cruz, studies galaxies and fleeting phenomena known as transient sources using the light from stars and quasars to examine matter that reveals itself in silhouette.

At a virtual event hosted on Zoom by the Outdoor Art Club pn Thursday, May 13 at 1pm, Prochaska will talk about this powerful approach to astronomical observation and the latest exciting discoveries in astrophysics. Be ready for some surprises.
