Free Westminster Events Hosts an Inspiring, Thought-Provoking Conversation About Aging, One that Challenges Outdated Perceptions & Explores How to Approach Lifeās Later Chapters with Grace, Purpose and Resilience ā April 27th, 3-5pm
The event features Sonya Dolan, co-founder of Mettle Healthāan online platform she created with Mill Valleyās BJ Miller to provide personalized, holistic support for patients and caregivers facing the emotional, practical, and existential challenges of serious illness, death, and grief. Also speaking is Joe OāHehir, Interim CEO of Vivalon, who brings more than four decades of leadership in healthcare and nonprofit organizations. A longtime advocate for innovative aging services, OāHehir helped launch Marinās Aging Action Initiative and led the creation of Vivalonās new Healthy Aging Campus. Moderating the conversation is Teri Dowling.

The Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade is right around the corner! The Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade (check out the website) Mill Valley’s biggest annual event is Monday, May 26, 2025. The parade starts with the very special Veterans Ceremony, which includes the student K-8 essay contest “What does Memorial Day mean to me,” beginning at 9:45 am at Lytton Square, followed by the parade at 10:30 am. The I Love a Parade committee, Larry ‘The Hat’ Lautzker, Paul Moe, and Clifford Waldeck invite you to get together with your neighbors and friends or support local organizations and create wondrous floats. Enter your Classic Car, bring your pet kangaroo, and get creative! We’re returning the glory days of Mill Valley Parades, Color Guard, Great floats, Dogs marching, and Classic Cars, with trophies for best in all (see entry form) categories.

With very heavy hearts, we announce the tragic loss of our brother and dear friend, Sean McGrew. Sean passed away suddenly, tragically, but peacefully on Friday, February 28th. Sean was born and raised in San Francisco and had long career in Recreation and Parks. Contributions are much appreciated and will go towards Memorial Benches in both San Francisco and Mill Valley.

Effective April 1, 2025, the sales tax rate for the City of Mill Valley will increase from 8.25% to 9.25% All taxpayers will receive a special notice regarding new sales and use tax rates effective April 1, 2025, 30 days before the new rates start either via e-notice or a letter format that has a āSpecial Noticeā on the top. The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration will post the notice on their Special Notices and Notification Letters website. https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/news/special-notices-and-notification-letters.htm. Approved by Mill Valley voters with the passage of Measure L in November 2024, this local sales tax increase of 1% is estimated to bring our community an additional $4.2 million in revenue per year. The City will begin receiving funds in June 2025 to directly support community identified priorities such as wildfire prevention, roads, bridges, emergency routes, flood mitigation, hillside stabilization, and repairing City facilities like the Public Safety Building, Community Center, Library, as well as City playgrounds and fields.
