Let’s face it: the Blithedale Project, a complete makeover of one of Mill Valley’s two main arterials, is necessary work. On top of Marin Water’s replacement of a 100-year-old pipe with a new pipeline, anyone who’s driven the newly paved stretches of Blithedale already knows how much of an improvement it is, so far.

But it’s also been a bit of slog, and our merchants, restaurants, galleries and nonprofit organizations in the downtown area are still feeling the adverse impact.

Earlier this year, we created – with generous design assistance from Poet and/the Bench and the support of the City of Mill Valley – an array of banners, both on Miller Ave. and on the Depot Plaza, to urge residents and guests to support the people that serve as backbone of our community.

Now we’re deploying some signs around town to do the same – reminding you to #ShopMV and “skip the click” whenever possible.

We encourage you to regularly check the City’s timely, informative Blithedale Project page to chart progress, and to make plans to support our local businesses and nonprofits. We all need to them to be around long after this project is complete!
