Longtime local photographer Amelia Plumb, last seen in this space creating social media photo sessions for businesses who need help creating content, is getting the First Tuesday Artwalk treatment in June, and even into July 12th.
Plumb, who fell in love with photography at a young age and found herself in the dark room by the time she got to high school, is set to showcase her 35 mm film, various film stocks (fujifilm 200 and Kodak Ektar 100).
“The film is soaked in liquid, and hand processed in one of just a few labs that process this type of film in the US,” she says. “This type of photography is ‘experimental, and the process is called ‘Film Soup.’
Plumb is a Mill Valley photographer who uses experimental film processes, and 35 mm film to make her abstract photographic art.
Amelia‘s images show the natural world around her home in Marin in a very bright light. Amelia is inspired by beautiful florals, the sky, the beach, a bit of chemistry, and architecture.
Amelia grew up experimenting in her grandmother’s kitchen with ingredients from the pantry, and today she’s doing the same in her own kitchen with various liquids, some dry ingredients…and 35 mmm film mixed in.
She loves the day the film scans arrive in her inbox, the colors that emerge in the images she photographs are always an awesome surprise. Amelia hopes her bright and unique artwork will add color and fun to the walls homes everywhere.
Aside from the First Tuesday Artwalk, the Chamber’s office is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12-4pm.
