For the past six weeks – and for many more to come – the City of Mill Valley is in the midst of a long-planned overhaul of East Blithedale Avenue, one of the two main arteries in town.
The project features a ton of vital improvements, including rehabilitating pavement and sanitary sewer lines, installing new bike lanes, pedestrian ramps, pedestrian bulb-outs, and crosswalks, and improving access to local residential, school, and business areas. Marin Water is also installing a new water line in conjunction with the Blithedale project.
But it’s also altering and disrupting traffic patterns in town and, as many of us are apt to do, shoppers, diners and art lovers are diverting or delaying their car trips downtown and to parts of Miller Avenue to avoid backups.
We encourage you to regularly check the City’s timely, informative Blithedale Project page to see when and where work is occurring, and to make plans to support our local businesses and nonprofits. We all need to them to be around long after this project is complete!
