The Blithedale Project and the Downtown Project, a complete makeover of one of Mill Valley’s two main arterials AND the centerpiece of its downtown, has been vitally important, necessary work. But it’s also been a long slog, and our merchants, restaurants, galleries, salons and nonprofit organizations in the downtown have certainly felt the adverse impact.

Restaurants, retailers, hair and nail salons and galleries are thrilled city officials committed do everything possible to avoid any construction impacts on the business community in the fourth quarter of 2023, and to avoid all but emergency work during the Thanksgiving and Holiday weeks. The city’s assurance of relief for Q4 is welcome news.

But with the Downtown Project at its conclusion, it’s time for a return to normalcy downtown, and that normalcy brings relief throughout 94941, not just downtown, as the impacts of construction cascaded throughout.
For restaurants, retailers, galleries and their patrons who enjoy an afternoon bite to eat prior before or after some shopping, that normalcy has arrived.
Many restaurants that halted lunch or limited service during construction – jackhammers, construction noise and dust are not the best ambience for grabbing a midday bite to eat – have restored expanded service!
Let’s get out of the house, enjoy this beautiful weather and eat, drink, shop, gather and enjoy the bounty of the 94941!
