Mill Valley Mourns the Loss of an Icon With the Passing of Maria Aversa, the Longtime Force of Nature Behind the Legendary La Ginestra Restaurant
When the City of Mill Valley celebrated La Ginestra’s 50th Anniversary in 2014, Fabio Aversa recounted to the Council a story about the family closing the restaurant briefly in 1965 so they could return to Italy for one month. At the end of the trip, Salvatore Aversa told his wife that he’d go back to Mill Valley to re-open the restaurant, and “that if nobody shows up, I’ll pack everything back up and come back to Italy.” Instead, he found flowers and welcome back signs and notes outside the restaurant.

Supporters, Opponents Ramp Up Their Case For and Against Measure, Which Seeks to Upgrade Facilities at the Five Tamalpais Union High District Schools to the Tune of $517 Million in Bonds
Voters in the district will consider a proposal to repair and upgrade the district’s five high schools. If approved, Measure A authorizes $517 million in bonds at legal rates, levying $30 per $100,000 assessed value while bonds are outstanding ($36 million annually) with independent oversight, annual audits, no funds for administrators and all funds locally controlled.
