Le Marais Bakery, named after the popular historic district in Paris, boasts a menu that ranges from coffee and pastries, baguettes and desserts to an array of breakfast, lunch and dinner items, including French favorites like traditional the croque monsieur and madame (menu).
It’s located in the bustling space at 250 East Blithedale that includes AP Luxe Salon + Blow Dry Bar, Belle Marin Aesthetic Medicine and an office for Compass real estate agents.
French native and Le Marais owner Patrick Ascaso has long been on a mission to recreate the boulangerie from his childhood in France, and that’s exactly what he did. The bakery and bistro first opened in 2013 on Chestnut Street in San Francisco with another location in Ghiradelli Square, one on Castro Street and a commissary kitchen on the way in the Tenderloin, looks to open in a 1,365-square-foot space in the main building.

In 2013, Ascaso opened this bakery in the Marina neighborhood in San Francisco. While it has changed locations since then, Le Marais currently has three locations – one in the Castro-Mission neighborhood, another in Mill Valley, and an artisanal commissary kitchen in the center of town.

Now Le Marais is taking the deliciousness a step further, unveiling Le Marais Dinners.

“Chef Emmanuel’s classic French dishes made with local and organic ingredients — fondue gougères, rillettes de saumon, entrecote aux trois poivres, moules frites, bouillabaisse marseillaise, saint-jacques scallops, poulet a l’estragon, soupe à l’oignon, salade niçoise, et plus!” Ascaso says.

Ascaso has curated a list of his favorite, affordable French wines, offering some unique profiles from the Southern part of France with spicier, fruitier profiles, and also from the Northern Rhone region with earthier finishes, along with many organic wines with less nitrates to bring the natural flavors forward.

Walk-ins are welcome, and plenty of parking available in their café lot. And with this card, please enjoy a complimentary glass of Crémant d’Alsace when you join us for dinner.
