Terra Marin School and the Terra Mandarin Preschool, which opened in late 2018 in the former Ring Mountain Day School space on Lomita Drive in Mill Valley, has ridden the pandemic rollercoaster with aplomb over the past two-plus years, drawing media attention for its launch of Terra Marin Micro-Schools and coverage from the likes of NBC Bay Area and the Marin Independent Journal for its use of 12-student cohorts that visited  locations throughout the Bay Area and conducted school in nature five days a week.

In doing so, the schools have shown continued creativity in adapting its learning environment

The schools, created by Wendy Xa, a former Goldman Sachs exec and a mother of two who founded the Mandarin immersion Presidio Knolls School in San Francisco in 2008 as a preschool before expanding it to a K-8 program, seek to be “a world class institution in the heart of Mill Valley,” Xa says.

On Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10am-12pm, Xa and her team are hosting a Lunar New Year Festival on their campus at 70 Lomita Drive. The event – outdoors and with plenty of space for social distancing – will feature Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese programs, performances, phenomenal raffles prizes and multicultural activities.

Due to updated Covid protocols, no food or drink will be served at the event and attendees must wears masks at all times. A COVID-19 vaccine card or negative test within 72 hours required upon entry.
