We’d like to take a moment to introduce ourselves. We are The Mercery, a vibrant new sewing community offering classes and workshops at Vintage Ruse on Shoreline. We’re also in the process of launching a fabric and notions store. The Mercery was founded with a simple goal: use sewing as a medium to bring people together, educate, and care for the environment.

Mercer has hosted just about every event under the sun, all while selling vintage clothing and welcoming all in. On April 11th, Mercer hosts a “Sip & Sew,” a fun evening of sewing – see image above. 256 Shoreline Hwy., 6:30-8pm. Tix $65.

The benefit raised money via food and drinks sales and direct donations, with 100% of proceeds going straight to the Maui Food Bank.

The latest event is set for Thursday, August 17th from 6:30-pm-10:30pm and seeks to directly benefit the Maui Food Bank, with 100% of proceeds going straight to to the Maui Food Bank which has been given the monumental task of feeding people in the aftermath of a tragedy that has seen its death toll rise to 96 people. 

Mercer spotted a for-lease sign at the intersection of Shoreline Hwy. and Almonte Blvd., a space so large at 6,000 square feet that she could manifest the community hub she’d sought for ages: part retail, part creative outlet and part community gathering space in which to host events – or allow others to use the massive space to do so.
