Sweetwater Music Hall is thrilled to present Lebo and Friends on Saturday, November 23, celebrating the 50th birthday of Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, the Bay Area’s beloved six-string virtuoso, singer, and bandleader. Best known for his work with ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra), Phil Lesh & Friends, and several other prominent acts in the jam-band scene, Lebo is renowned for his one-of-a-kind versatility, deft songcraft, and irresistible charm.

Wreckless Strangers is a collective of six friends and musicians carrying the torch for San Francisco’s grand rock ‘n’ roll tradition. Their unique stew of “Bay Area Gumbo” melds the contemporary blues stylings of Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs; the songwriting sensibilities of Sons of Champlin and Fleetwood Mac; the swashbuckling Americana of the Lost Planet Airmen and Peter Rowan; and the funk of Sly Stone and Tower of Power with a dash of Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane for flavor and unpredictability.

For almost 4 decades, the Grammy winning Rebirth Brass Band has been “stunning” fans with a fiery live show and a rich musical catalog. Their trademark sound pays homage to the New Orleans brass band tradition while weaving a tapestry that combines elements of jazz, funk, soul, R&B and the sounds from the streets they grew up on. Strongly influenced by the likes of Hendrix, Clapton, Alvin Lee, Leslie West, Sly Stone and Freddie Stone, Young has played and recorded with a long list of people including; The Natural Four, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Richard “Dimples” Fields, John Lee Hooker, Maria Muldaur, Jimmy McCracklin, Craig Horton, Snooky Flowers, Cool Papa, Archie Lee Hooker, Zakiya Hooker, and Alabama Mike.

On the heels of the exhilarating return of the Sequoia Cinema earlier this year, along with the unveiling of the ever-creative new Visual Design for the 2024 Mill Valley Film Festival, and the amazing news that BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law will appear at the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival (October 3–13), there’s even more exciting MVFF coming our way. “Conclave,” a Vatican-set drama that takes us inside one of the world’s most secretive events, will make its West Coast premiere as the opening night film of the 47th Mill Valley Film Festival, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, with its star Ralph Fiennes set to appear in person.

The return of the massive Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival is always a massive lift for music lovers all over the Bay Area, particularly with a lineup that once again leans heavily on its ‘hardly strictly’ mantra and has booked an array of bands across the musical landscape. Organizers of the event, as usual, are making sure that the event benefits the larger Bay Area community, and is doing so by continuing its “Hardly Strictly Out of the Park,” a series of nighttime live performances at a handful of venues around town, including a quartet of shows at our own venerable Sweetwater Music Hall.
