Marin IJ: Mill Valley Middle School to Halt $130 Million Middle School Modernization Project, Due to Environmental Issues – Terra Marin School Agrees to Vacate

According to the Marin IJ, environmental issues have put plans for a new $130 million Mill Valley Middle School on hold, according to consultants for the school district. The delay is for more studies at the campus at 425 Sycamore Ave., which used to be a burn dump. The district’s plan is to demolish the school and rebuild it at the same site. Sandrine Hitchcock, a program manager for the construction consulting firm AECOM, discussed the project during a public forum on Thursday, saying the last step of the California Environmental Quality Act process is expected in July.

On October 28 at 5pm, there will be a free musical celebration of life for Phil at the Throckmorton Theatre. Performers will be some of Phil’s fellow musicians from the SF Opera and Symphony. All are welcome. The family has asked that gifts and donations be made to the Throckmorton Theatre instead of the family, a wonderful and supportive gesture to the theatre Phil loved so much (and performed at frequently). Phil was a deeply loved community member with a talent rare and fantastic.

Tam High School Students Launch Tutoring Program at Mill Valley Middle School

Mill Valley Middle School (MVMS) is thrilled to announce an exciting new tutoring initiative aimed at providing enhanced academic support for its students. Spearheaded by former MVMS student Brady Dresner in collaboration with 6th grade Counselor Erin Sheedy, this program is designed to foster collaboration and promote academic growth within our community. Starting Monday, October 14, 2024, students from Tam High will be available in the MVMS library every Monday and Thursday from 3:05pm to 4pm. They will offer free tutoring sessions across all subjects, ensuring that every student has the resources they need to succeed.

October Noon Concert features Violinist Jennifer Choi, cellist Angela Lee, and guitarist Marc Teicholz join forces to play a delightfully varied and colorful program. The music ranges from Paganini to Piazzolla, Baroque to Balkan, light and humorous to darkly sensual and intense.
