Moulton-Peters, the countyās representative on BCDC, acknowledged the results of the UC Berkeley study, but added, āThe lived experience of people that we have heard from in this county and elsewhere is very different. We need to make a more reliable commute for the people coming from the East Bay to work in Marin.ā Additional changes are planned for the bridge, including removing the toll booths at east end and reinstating a previous high occupancy vehicle lane on the westbound upper deck. Planners are also studying the possibility of using the multiuse lane as an additional lane for carpools and buses.

Local Kitchens in Mill Valley is pursuing its mission to give back, bringingĀ communities together through food. “We have loved being a business partner of Kiddo! to help further local children’s education through the arts,” the Local Kitchen s team says in a statement. “As a part of this partnership, we will be giving 5% of all sales between Nov. 4th-10th. Swing by Local Kitchens for a meal (or two) this week to support Kiddo!”

Like the draft report, the final EIR, or FEIR, examines three other project alternatives, including a āno-projectā option. In conclusion, the report says the āreduced residential alternativeā ā which proposes 63 fewer homes than what developers are seeking ā would be the āenvironmentally superior alternative.ā The option would āslightly reduceā the effects on air quality, emissions, energy, noise and vehicle trip generation, the report says. However, the report maintains that a list of required construction and mitigation measures would need to be followed to minimize disruptions. The report says the reduced residential alternative would meet the stated project objectives just with 63 fewer homes.

According to the Marin IJ, environmental issues have put plans for a new $130 million Mill Valley Middle School on hold, according to consultants for the school district. The delay is for more studies at the campus at 425 Sycamore Ave., which used to be a burn dump. The districtās plan is to demolish the school and rebuild it at the same site. Sandrine Hitchcock, a program manager for the construction consulting firm AECOM, discussed the project during a public forum on Thursday, saying the last step of the California Environmental Quality Act process is expected in July.
