Marin IJ: Marin Workforce Housing Complex Edges Toward Construction Phase, Co-Powered by MV Residents’ Education Housing Partners ā 250-Unit Affordable Apartment Project Near San Quentin For Teachers & County Employees
The entire village of 250 affordable apartments will rest on about 8 acres at the site of a former San Quentin State Prison gun range. It is near the Larkspur ferry terminal, a Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit station, bus stops, bike trails and other amenities. The entire project, which began in the planning stages about four years ago, has been estimated to cost about $238 million.

The new Mill Valley showroom will showcase the companyās products, house a design studio and be open to the public.Ā Space Theory offers a complete system, including storage units, pulls, integrated lighting, modular interior accessories, countertops, backsplashes and sinks solely for the kitchen.

Construction crews have been working steadily to complete the final section of the 17-mile Marin-Sonoma Narrows project to add high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes along US-101 from Novato to Petaluma. Travelers along northbound US-101, in the construction area, can expect an alignment shift in early 2025 as crews move to finalize the median barrier, final paving and striping in preparation to shift traffic onto the HOV lanes in summer 2025. When the HOV lanes are open, they will complete a 52-mile HOV system from the Richardson Bay Bridge in southern Marin County to Windsor in Sonoma County.Ā

Researchers found that by directing evacuees to use a less-frequented on-ramp to Highway 101 off Hamilton Drive, implementing a contraflow strategy on East Blithedale Avenue, and encouraging households to evacuate with only one vehicle significantly reduced overall evacuation times, cutting nearly 2 hours off the process.Ā In response, in 2024, City officials conducted staff drills, revamped evacuation routes, and emphasized to residents the message:Ā āTake one car, save the lives of those behind you.ā This strategy ensures a faster, safer evacuation for all residents.
