As has been the case with all of Mill Valley’s major events over the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the most important outcome of the two days of the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival in 2021 was that they happened, safely and beautifully in the always-stunning redwood grove at Old Mill Park.
More than 140 artists showcased their work and turnout was solid throughout the weekend, despite a consistent drizzle, a clear indication that one of Mill Valley’s landmarks remains as popular and well-regarded as ever.
Organizers are now readying the 65th annual Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival, set for Sept. 17-18, by inviting artists to submit applications through Zapplication, with only original artist-made work accepted. The application fee is $40 through April 15 and $50 for applications received April 16-22.
MVAF also features crowd-drawing musical and children’s entertainment, a Saturday evening wine and cheese award ceremony for the artists, complimentary coffee and snacks for artists each morning, free parking for artists and a free shuttle bus service for attendees, a bountiful group of volunteers to assist artists, a beautiful outdoor redwood grove setting and a special Presentation Grove and Emerging Artist Grove as well as $500 Awards of Excellence to four artists who are invited back the next year.
