This week’s inaugural Marin Design Awards are set to confirm what we already know: that Mill Valley is home to a plethora of multi-talented design professionals spanning architecture, interior design, landscaping, floral design, fashion and much more.

Among the array of nominees in the aforementioned categories are architects Ron Sutton & Elizabeth Suzuki of  Sutton Suzuki and Barbara Chambers of Chambers + Chambers as well as floral designer Gayle Nicoletti of Bloomingayles and Guideboat founder Stephen Gordon. Nadine Storyk Curtis, owner of 7 on Locust, the Locust Ave. boutique laden with unique home decor, art, rock ‘n roll photography, clothing and jewelry, will be one of the event’s honorees

Presented by real estate firm Vanguard Properties, which is set to open a new office at 352 Miller Ave. (the former home of Once Around) in June, the event is set for Thursday, May 18, 6-9pm, at the Mill Valley Community Center. In addition to the awards ceremony, the event also features cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a live fashion show. Tix are $50.

“We wanted to recognize those designers in Marin County who have not had a vehicle to showcase their talents and contributions in the local community,” said Kevin Patsel, the event’s organizer and the Marin sales manager for Vanguard Properties. “We saw a missed opportunity to give these designers the kudos and credit they deserve for bringing design into our lives.”
