Late summer is almost here, the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival and Mill Valley Film Festival are on the horizon and it’s high time to bring one of our local stalwarts to the Miller Closure (5-10pm) for a scintillating set of live music on Aug. 28 (6-8pm), part of our ongoing effort to infuse vitality into our community during this insane rollercoaster ride that the COVID-19 crisis hath wrought.
The Jamie Clark Quartet features the longtime band leader Jamie Clark leading attendees through his original pop-Americana sound, drawing on his Bay Area upbringing and leaning on influences like Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Isaak, Jackie Greene, Father John Misty, Lucinda Williams, David Gray, and many others.
Through the course of the Miller Closure performances over the past several weekends, Mill Valley residents and guests have had another chance to rediscover the wonders of the 94941, from the delicious marriage of live music and al fresco dining to more outdoor seating than Mill Valley has enjoyed in decades. The voracious appetite for al fresco dining and shopping options has robust and passionate, verifying the “rising tide lifts all boats” theory in spades.
The Miller Closure events have featured Piazza D’Angelo, Urban Remedy, Gravity Tavern and Equator Coffees, as well as retailers like The Goods, Famous4, Sofia Jewelry, Sprout SF, Terrestra, Wink Optics , Margaret O’Leary, The Local and The Store showcasing their wares.
We’re going to take a pause on the Miller Closure at the end of October.
But in the meantime, we’ve lined up a heckuva social calendar on the docket in the coming weeks, with live music set for at least every other Saturday evening through Halloween.
On the heels of performances by Tomas Dessle’s SunHunter band and Nick Brown & Friends and Mill Valley songstress Chloe Jean , Clark is set to bring all of the good vibes to downtown Mill Valley. We encourage you to bookend his band’s performance with as much shopping, strolling, smiling and, of course, eating –as possible.
Check out Jamie Clark’s muic here.
We’ll continue to inject Miller with vibrance and local favorite Jamie Clarke will perform on Aug. 28 (6-8pm), and the venerable Starduster Band will perform on Oct. 17.
