From Banana Republic to Smith & Hawken, Marin has long been known for companies birthed within its confines that went on to become regional and national powerhouses. A pair of widely successful, long-established local companies appear well on their way to achieving the same level of success, having been named as two of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the U.S., according to a new report from Inc. magazine.

EO Products, the San Rafael-based natural and organic personal care products company co-founded by longtime Mill Valley resident Susan Griffin-Black, made the list at 3,722 and $47 million in revenue in 2018. And Equator Coffees & Teas, founded by Mill Valley residents Helen Russell and Brooke McDonnell, who were named the 2016 Small Business Persons of the Year for California, made the list at 4,515 and $19.5 million in revenue in 2018.

Inc., which publishes weekly content about small businesses and startups in the U.S., ranked companies according to their percentage revenue growth from 2015 to 2018. California has 713 of the most successful new companies in the country. Marin County has six companies in the top 5,000. FULL REPORT.
