But the store has also long been a key contributor to community organizations, including Kiddo, Tamalpais High Foundation, the Manzanita Child Development Center and, recently, constructing stage boxes for the productions of the theatrical arts program operated by Interactive Enrichment at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse.
Goodman’s latest charitable venture is the Goodie Grill-Off and BBQ Party, a May 5th benefit for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event is exactly what it sounds like: people who think they’re the best amateur BBQ aficionado in town pay $75 to enter and serve up their fare and have it judged by attendees.
Participants who want to sell their food must pay a separate $20 donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in order to sell their food. The first place winner will receive a grill valued at $400-$500 and the second place winner gets a Weber Q grill. Goodman will also have a People’s Choice winner who will receive a $100 Goodman’s gift card.
Customers can buy a food plate or entrée and vote for the People’s Choice winner. Participants must sell their plates for less than $8 and each individual item for $3 or less. Participants must enter before April 1. Call 415 388-6233 ext 134 or email mail@goodmanbuildingsupply.net.
