In no uncertain terms, Marin Magazine readers made one thing crystal clear in 2021: they love them some 94941. The magazine’s ‘Best Of’ Marin issue came out recently, and Mill Valley businesses raked in the honors across a host of categories.

That included Poet and/the Bench‘s win for Best Gifts, Margaret O’Leary getting tops for Best Women’s Clothing, Sofia Jewelry being honored for Best Jewelry, Woodlands Pet Food & Treats garnering Best Pet Store, Sloat nabbing Best Home & Garden Store in the Bay Area and Green Door Design getting Best Florist.

It also spanned myriad food-related honors, including multiple wins for Watershed and Buckeye Roadhouse. Our winners below. Full list of winners here. Congrats to all!

As if that wasn’t enough love for Mill Valley businesses and organizations, the Pacific Sun also issued its own “Best of Marin 2021,” with both its team of writers and readers weighing in on the best of the best. The newspaper’s writers had fun with it, spotlighting Equator Coffees in Mill Valley as the “Best Cappuccino After White Egret Watching in the Bothin Marsh.” They deemed HoneyGirl Beauty the “Best Salon To Recite ‘Pirates of the Carribean’ Quotes to Yourself While Getting a Brazilian,” the annual Sound Summit music festival on the top of Mt. Tam “Best View at a Music Festival,” and Vintage Wine & Spirits as “Best Place To Set Sail on a Sea of Wine.”

In the more traditional style of “best of” honors, readers said Sol Food is the “Best Covid Carry-Out,” “Best Latin American,” “Best Hot Sauce” and “Best Food Delivery,” Pelican Inn is the “Best Covid Lawn/Coast Picnic,” The Junction Beer Garden & Bottle Shop is “Best Craft Beer Selection In-House,” the 2am Club is “Best Dive Bar,” Bungalow 44 is “Best Fried Chicken,” Equator Coffees is “Best Local Coffee Roaster,” Rocco’s is “Best Pizza,” Gravity Tavern iss “Best Wine Tasting Room,” Oh, and the Mill Valley Dog Park is the “Best Dog Park” and the Dipsea Trail “Best Hiking Trail” (obviously).

Also, Woodlands Pet Food & Treats is the “Best Pet/Feed Store,” Tam High is the “Best Public School (K-12),” Bank of Marin is the “Best Consumer Bank” the “Best Business Bank,” Sofia Jewelry is the “Best Fine Jewelry Store,” Mill Valley Flowers is the “Best Florist,” Good Earth Natural Foods is the “Best Natural Foods Store,” The Redwoods is the “Best Senior Living Facility” and the “Best Assisted Living Facility,” B12 Love is the “Best Holistic Health Center,” Body Kinetics is the Best Health Club” and its co-owner John Hoeber Is the “Best Nutritionist,” Throckmorton Theatre has the “Best Comedy Night,” Mill Valley Film Festival is both the “Best Festival” and “Best Virtual Film Festival,” Marin Theatre Company is the “Best Virtual Performing Arts Company” and “Best Virtual Theater Company,” McCarthy Painting is the “Best Painting Contractor.” And Proof Lab – no surprise here – is the “Best Skate Shop” and “Best Surf Shop.”
