Eileen Barker, a lawyer, mediator, and acclaimed forgiveness expert who has won the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance’s “Champion of Forgiveness” award, is set to speak at the OAC on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 1pm. Barker regularly leads workshops and teaches people and organizations how to use conflict to achieve healing, and has taught classes on mediation, conflict resolution, and forgiveness at UC Berkeley School of Law, UC Hastings College of Law and Sonoma State University, among others.
In her law practice, Barker rejected the traditional adversarial role, focusing instead on mediation and conflict resolution for more than 20 years. That work led her into an exploration of forgiveness as it relates to resolving conflict and making peace, both with others and oneself. In 2016, Eileen received the Champion of Forgiveness award from the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance, along with Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The 411: Eileen Barker speaks at the Outdoor Art Club, One West Blithedale, on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 1pm. Free.
